SALLY DORMAN (MBACP) HUMANISTIC INTEGRATIVE COUNSELLOR
Working online, face-to-face or by telephone
A warm welcome to my website. I hold an advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative counselling and am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as such adhere to their ethical framework.
I appreciate that it takes courage to take the first steps in finding a counsellor, I consider myself to be a warm and empathic counsellor
and it is my belief that each of us has the ability to heal ourselves. It is my goal to help facilitate your own healing process, and to provide you with tools to continue outside of the therapy room. Understanding and recognising patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour in your own life can make a real and lasting difference.
Polyvagal theory (PVT) underpins my practice, and was developed by Dr. Stephen Porjes. The name refers to the vagus nerve that runs from the neck down to the abdomen, and transmits signals to our brain and various body organs. PVT was developed as a way of understanding the nervous system, which sets the stage for our thoughts, feelings and actions. By getting to know our nervous system, through simple but effective tools, we learn to manage our stress response and increase our emotional stability and ability to self-regulate.
Counselling is a journey you embark on, a journey of self-exploration, exploration of situations, patterns, relationships or any other aspect in your life that might be challenging. Taking that journey with a counsellor you feel comfortable with is equally important. As a counsellor, my aim is to create a safe and non-judgemental space where you feel free to start that journey.
My Hassocks located counselling practice has parking and is also by the station itself. If you are looking for a counsellor, Hassocks has excellent rail links to surrounding towns such as Brighton, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, and surrounding villages such as Hurtpierpoint, Ditchling, Henfield, Wivelsfield, Cuckfield, Lindfield and Bolney.
